FIrst i would like to thank all of you for the wonderful meetups that we have had so far. I want to welcome the new members. I'm glad you decided to join this group.

You may have noticed that I have not sent out any email or set up meetups for quite some time. That is because I'm incredibly buisy with work and school.

fortunately there IS something you can do to help me out. Volunteer to become an assistant organizer! This way you can meet up at the places YOU like to go. You have controll of the agenda for the evening.

Or you can be an assistant organizer that posts No-Host events. Basically you just look up the different events going on in LA and post them In detail for people who might want to attend. You dont actually have to host if you dont want to.

Excuses

THis is too much responsability for me:

No it's not. you post when you want to and you show up when you want to. Just remember to write down when you will be there and when you will not so people dont show up expecting to see you.

I dont have time for this:

Neither do I. thats why im asking for at least 4 more volunteers to help me. I am hoping to have at least 1 hosted event per month. and 1-2 unhosted events posted. That means that if there are 4 volunteers you will only host 1 event every 4 months! I think you can handle that.

I have other commitments:

Dosent everyone? You only need to post once every 4 months . you dont actually have to show up unless you want to. you can always cancell an event or change your attending status. ITs super easy.

I dont want to sit at a table and wait for people to show up/cater to them all night:

Hosting an event is easy. first of all, you would be only hosting events that you find interesting and are going to attend ANYWAY. secondly, you dont have sit at the table all night. you just print out the meetup sign and place it on the table or on a wall and check back every now and then for new arrivals. you also tell the staff that you are present and where your Hub will be. lastly, part of being a good host is participating in the event! so you will take the lessons with the other people, dance with whomever you want (not just your meetup group) and socialize with everyone at the event. Is that not why you joined to begin with?

I'm not a swing dancer. I have no experience. I'm new to this and want to learn myself:

I wasn't born dancing. I had to learn too. Part of the reason I have increased my skill is by hosting this group. I attended meetups that had lessons in the beginning of the dance. I learned to lindy-hop from the included lessons at the beginning of lindygroove. Dont short change yourself. It took me 2-3 months to really get lindy-hop down. YOu dont need dancing experience, we are all here to learn together.



the point is I need help. I'm burning out. I want to keep running the group but with my tight schedule it's impossible. So please volunteer and help me out if you can.
